Details

Sevenoaks Model Car Club (SMCC) has been running for over thirty years. It begun in 1990 and has a steady flow of regular and new racers to the sport. It has always tried to be a friendly local model car racing club that is open to all. We don’t take ourselves too seriously and the aim of the club is for children and adults to spend time together and have fun and learn the hobby.

We cater for everyone from complete novices through to seasoned racers. Yes we do race competitively but racers are grouped based on ability so you’re always in with a chance of winning. For the latest information please refer to the club website Sevenoaks Model Car Club - (smccracing.uk) or our facebook group

The club runs classes for:

  • 1/10th Touring car (13.5T limit)
  • Tamiya Tourers (Tamiya Torque tuned)
  • 1/10th offroad
  • Short course trucks

We race on indoors on sports hall flooring, which gives a challenging but fun surface to race on.

Meetings are held fortnightly on a Friday evening and booking in and payment is done prior to the meeting (closing at 7:30pm the night before a meeting).

Booking in & Calendar

We utilise a Mylaps RC4 decoder running firmware 4.4 so can support both MRT and RC4 transponders. All meeting results are available online through rc-results

Great Club Racing

I've raced here for a couple of years now and it was the first club I've raced at. Everyone is friendly, welcoming and happy to offer advice to newcomers. The standard of driving is also high, without anyone taking themselves too seriously.

Amazing family-friendly club for beginners and experienced alike!

I'm relatively new to the hobby having just started around August 2023, but after several recommendations, I eventually started racing at SMCC in November 2023. The organisers are incredibly friendly, welcoming and are always happy to offer any help and advice, no matter what class you're racing in. Booking in is done through their club website which saves time and is much simpler as opposed to faffing with cash when signing in on the day. Heat listings are posted the night before and you can view the live timings on the day, making it easy to keep track at your table, or stay in the loop should you miss a nights racing or would like to share your progress. There's a large enough screen facing the drivers as you race so you can keep an eye on your lap times. You only have to bring your own table but folding chairs are available. Charging is done safely on one side of the hall so there's no need to bring your own power cord. The track layout changes with every round and is always setup by the time doors open and packed by all racers /members at the end of the night. There's plenty of parking , the hall has wheelchair access and clean toilets. You can make your own hot drinks at the kettle table where they provide coffee and tea for a small donation. There's a van serving delicious fresh pizza just outside the grounds. The atmosphere tends to be quite relaxed, with more emphasis on having fun but make no mistake, there's some brilliant racers here who will certainly give you a challenge. Racers are fairly split into their skill levels so that no matter your experience, you'll find yourself having a good battle on track and improving with each and every lap. I love that they have a drivers briefing before every race night should anyone have any questions. Thank you SMCC for doing such an amazing job on organising everything and giving the rest of us a great club to be proud of!

Fantastic Club.

Been racing at the club for the last few years now, with my 2 Sons. A great friendly atmosphere kid friendly, which is great to see young blood in the hobby. My kids love it and get very competitive, its great to see them get involved and repair and maintain there cars. The Hall gives for a challenging race but once you have that nailed, you will be a skilled racer. Highly recommended ?

Just what RC club racing should be!

For the past few years, I have been fortunate enough to race at SMCC regularly. The club committee are second to none and some how manage to squeeze 60+ entrants into a packed evening of racing. The club allows for varying abilities and encourages young & new racers, which is just what our hobby needs. On the flip side, the polished gym floor provides a great challenge for the seasoned racer to enjoy! Thoroughly recommend!
